Did you know that Home-Start Kernow is responsible for raising all the
funds required to run our family support service?
While Cornwall is rightly celebrated as a wonderful place to live and visit, this picture doesn’t reflect the reality for every family. Across parts of the county, many parents are facing serious challenges, including illness or disability, made even harder by poverty and poor housing conditions.
To meet this need, Home-Start Kernow raises its own funds each year.
Alongside commissioned projects form Cornwall Council, applying for grants from charitable Trusts, Foundations and corporate partners, we run our own fundraising activities to keep our services going. We need around £500,000 each year to continue supporting young children and their parents and carers across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Make a donation with Just Giving
Donating through our JustGiving page is one of the quickest and simplest ways to support Home-Start Kernow.
With just a few clicks, you can make a secure donation that helps us be there for local families with young children when they need it most.
Could we work with your employer?
Many large employers have a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy that encourages staff to support local communities, and this can be a great opportunity to champion Home-Start Kernow. If you work for a national or multinational company, such as banking, retail, telecoms, energy, IT or engineering, you could start a conversation with your employer about supporting our work, fundraising with colleagues, or even choosing us as Charity of the Year. Businesses interested in making a meaningful local impact can also explore how partnering with us supports families with young children while delivering real social value for their organisation.

Sign up to Easy Fundraising
A very easy way to help us raise funds is by signing up to Easy Fundraising! If you haven’t signed up yet, it’s simple and completely free.
Whenever you buy anything online, from your weekly shop to your annual holiday, you could be raising free donations for Home-Start Kernow with easyfundraising? There are over 8,000 retailers on board ready to make a donation – including eBay, Argos, John Lewis & Partners, ASOS, Booking.com and M&S – and it won’t cost you a penny extra to help us raise funds.
All you need to do is: 1. Go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/hskernow/ and join for free. 2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping. 3. After you’ve checked out, the retailer will make a donation to Home-Start Kernow at no extra cost to you whatsoever!
You can even install a widget on your device to alert you if you are shopping with one of the brands that will donate to Home-Start Kernow.
Fundraising Events
If you’re part of a local group, for example a PTA, WI, Scouts or Brownies, or work for a larger employer, you might like to organise your own fundraising event to support us. Over the years, supporters have raised vital funds for us through film nights, charity football matches, coffee mornings and car boot sales, there are lots of fun and simple ways to get involved.
We’re always happy to support individuals or organisations planning a fundraiser. We can provide branded T-shirts, collecting tins and stickers, and help promote your event across our social media channels.
