Who We Are – Trustees
Michelle Gould
Chair of Trustees
Hello! I’m Michelle, a volunteer trustee with four grown up children and lots of grandchildren to keep me busy. I love baking, crochet and knitting when I am not trustee-ing or babysitting. I am passionate about children having the best start in life and I know first -hand how challenging and joyful being a parent can be. My role is to ensure we are managing the charity’s resources effectively to ensure we are always here.
Anna Cairns
Trustee
I have been a trustee with Home-Start Kernow since 2022. I have worked in the charity sector in the UK and internationally for over 15 years as a fundraiser, most recently as head of the philanthropy and partnership team at Plan International UK. Supporting families to improve early childhood development is something I feel very passionate about, so I was thrilled to become a trustee for Home-Start Kernow.

Peter Hastings
Trustee
I have been a trustee since mid-2022. I am thrilled to contribute to helping parents give their children the best start in the county that I myself grew up in. My career has focussed on digital and business transformation across a range of industries, including several tenures within the Health & Social Care Network. When I am not working, I can be found spending time with my children, on the beach, or walking the coast path.

Gerry Painter
Trustee
My background was originally in market research and analysis. I then trained as a Counsellor and work with young people and adults in various charities and now mainly in private practise. I passionately believe in children having the best possible start in life by supporting them in their early years, and am excited to be involved with Homestart Kernow. I’ve been a trustee since autumn 2024. In my spare time I enjoy getting out on the coast paths and waters of Cornwall.

I have been a trustee since October 2021. I am a Chartered Certified Accountant and currently work in mid Cornwall as a Financial Manager for an International manufacturing Company. I was formally a School Governor at a local school in Bude.
Duncan Trotter
Trustee
I’ve been a trustee of Home-Start Kerrnow since June 2020. Almost all of my working life was spent employed by large children’s charities, including 11 years with The Children’s Society and 20 years with Save the Children, in a variety of project leadership, human resource development and policy advisory roles. I’ve been fortunate to have travelled widely but chose in 2016 to move to Cornwall for my retirement – and I love living here.
