Home-Start Kernow Needs You
There are several ways that you can help Home-Start Kernow:-
- by supporting a family as a home-visiting volunteer
- by volunteering with our family groups
- by becoming a Trustee
- by fundraising
Home-Start Family Visiting
Home-Start Kernow’s home-visiting volunteers come from many different backgrounds and vary in age but all are either parents themselves or have parenting experience. Read more about some of our volunteers here. All volunteers attend a preparation course before being matched with a family. They then take their own individual skills and experience to the families they visit. Please see the events calendar for details of future courses. For more person specific information please follow this link to Role Description.
Volunteers help parents by offering practical and emotional support within organised groups. You may offer to transport or accompany an anxious parent and help them fit into a group. Within the group you will play with the children, build relationships with the parents and encourage them to enjoy family time. A short training course will be provided. If you have experience of looking after children in a personal or professional capacity and an interest in family groups click here.
We are looking for that someone out there who likes talking and organising to help us look at new ways of raising funds; arrange events/collections or help out at events organised by Home Start Kernow. If this is you please contact us.
All volunteers will be required to complete a DBS check.
